Fountain of Dreams
The musical water fountain at Valankulam lake was a visual treat. With 50 channel Chaser fountains, Sunburst, Butterfly, Revolving parrot and Revolving snake fountains, the show mesmerized one and all. In addition to this there was also a water screen with Laser projection to add to the effect. Fifty sky beam lights worked in tandem with the fountains to create a magical experience for the viewers. Coimbatoreans came from near and far to enjoy the spectacle with packed shows everyday. The visuals and drone shots went viral on news channels and social media. It truly was a befitting event for the 15th edition of Coimbatore Vizha.
Chettinadu Thiruvizha
The first-ever Chettinadu-related fest was held by NEU in the 15th edition of Vizha at Codissia. Nearly 80 stalls highlighting Chettinadu architecture, food, craftsmanship, jewellery, sarees, traditional games, baskets, wooden kitchenware, snacks and spices were installed. Replicas of nine temples, temple rituals, wedding formalities and nuptial items, were showcased at the event. participants could also partake in a traditional Chettinad meal, weave baskets and watch Athangudi tiles being made.
Marathon
The marathon this year saw participation from more than 2300 participants and the maximum participation was for the 5Km run. There was also a 10Km run with a 2.5 Km walk for senior citizens and a unique family run wherein a mom or dad could bring their child and do a joint run. All participants were given T-shirts and medals. As always a sumptuous breakfast followed. It was a sight to watch our Collector, Corporation Commissioner and Commissioner of Police join hands and finish the 10Km run together.

Art Street or Oviya Santhai was true to its form with a mix of all the best elements that it is known for. The team had a competition for the installations from architecture colleges and four of them were selected to build the installations at Art Street 2023. It truly was a sight to see the students bring their ideas together over the course of the month. In addition the team also put together impressive installations that viewers enjoyed. Prominent amongst them was the Rainbow of dreams wherein students from rural and urban schools painted their dreams on post cards that were color coordinated and displayed. More than 75 painters were there to display their art and the workshops as always were a huge draw.

In the 15th edition of Coimbatore Vizha, Gallery 641 was curated as an Art Gallery at The Ruh Early Years in Race Course. Curated by renowned artist Ms. Jitha Ramesh, the Gallery had art works from Coimbatore, Cochin and Mumbai.
Coimbatore’s Got Talent
Pioneering this year was Coimbatore’s own version of a talent hunt show. With more than 500 entries, the best 40 entries were shortlisted and they performed at the finals. Each team was given 3 min to showcase their talent and it was a wide variety ranging from dance and music to magic and ball juggling and theatre. More than 1000 students cheered the performances and the judges used their buzzers diligently.
Agri Next
Velaan Thiruvizha is a festival conducted by Sri Shakthi Institute Of Engineering and Technology to encourage natural and traditional agriculture forms, to showcase native breeds of cattle, horses, goats and other animals. This year also was also no less with thousands of people visiting the event. Various folk dances and concerts were conducted, including Oyilaatam, Mayilaatam, and Poikalkuthiraiaatam. Agri Next was jointly conducted with the Startup incubator at TNAU to highlight the modern opportunities of value addition in agriculture and farming.
Exotic Car Rally
The Car and Bike rally show also in its second edition, saw a number of vintage cars, bikes and scooters participate this year. Organized by Rotary Coimbatore City, this year’s rally had the oldest model from 1916, the cars made their way from Coimbatore Cosmopolitan Club to Prozone Mall. After which the cars were displayed at PSG College of Technology for everyone to see. The exhibition organized by PSG Institutions had other vintage cars and race cars also on display.
Para Sports and Special Sports
In a bid to make Coimbatore Vizha inclusive for all sections of society, Paralympics was held much to the joy of all those who participated. With the support of Hindusthan College of Arts and Science, the event saw a lot of participation and brought joy to all of us. From a band to volleyball matches to national level players that participated, the event brought a lot of camaraderie to the fore.
Isai Mazhai
Taking music to the neighborhoods of Coimbatore was envisioned in the 12th edition of Coimbatore Vizha and this year also music bands and karoke clubs performed at various locations in the city. In addition to Ram Nagar and Bharathi park, this year we also went to the suburbs like Vellakinar where the teams were accorded a special welcome. This year also included a record setting 24 Hr music marathon by Music n More that saw participation from more than 170 singers from across the city.
The Great Kovai Bake off
With so many professional and home bakers in Coimbatore, the stage was set for starting the first ever Great Kovai Bakeoff this year. This was together with Latha’s School of Baking and the contestants participated in multiple competitions. Cake modelling, cake baking, mystery challenge were some of the rounds and the winner was presented with a dough mixer.
Unavu Sangamam
Together with the Fountain of Dreams, Unavu Sangamam happened at Valankulam lake from 5th to 8th Jan 2023. With more than 25 stalls that mainly included food and other products there were thousands of visitors at Unavu Sangamam. There were again native performances by performers from Coimbatore and nearby districts to enthrall the crowds. The stall by a regiment of the armed forces Kovai Terriers and the stall by Siruthuli on Madi Vanam was appreciated by all.

PSG Kadambari, is a Carnatic music festival where talented young musicians from Coimbatore are invited to perform in concerts. This four day Musical event is annually conducted during Coimbatore Vizha and is open to all. These young musicians feed off each other’s creative energy, and inspire each other in their performances. They are also a great inspiration to the young aspiring musicians in Coimbatore . The program is open for the general public, student community, faculty & staff of PSG Institutions.
